“Call to Action” by the National Commander

Please pass this along to as many people as possible.

Leland VFW Post 12196 has received a “Call to Action” by the National Commander,  Timothy M. Borland, to help residents of Kentucky who have been affected by the recent floods.

In his email to Post Commanders, North Carolina Department Commander Tim Woods stated,  “As most of you know, Kentucky has been particularly hard hit by flooding over the past few days.  There have been 37 deaths reported, throughout five eastern counties, so far.  Now is the time to do what we do best and rise to the occasion in support of our comrades and their families affected by this tragic event. Please reach out to your Districts, Posts, Auxiliaries, and communities throughout our great State of North Carolina to collect items needed in this first rapid response.”
Items requested fall into these categories:
Water
Cleaning supplies
Hygiene products
Baby items
First aid
Tylenol/Ibuprophen/Asprin
Bedding (pillows/blankets
Toys for children
Non-perishable foods
Post 12196 has partnered with Leland Cultural Arts Center (1212 Magnolia Village Way), Blossoms Restaurant (1800 Tommy Jacobs Drive), Deb Pickett-Edward Jones (1144 East Cutlar Crossing Ste. 101), and Fuzzy Peach (1109 New Pointe Blvd. Suite 4) to set up drop boxes for those who would like to contribute.
The drop boxes will be there from Monday, August 15, until Monday, August 29. Please help if you can.
