VFW 12196 Leland, NC National Day of Remembrance

National Day of Remembrance – Sep 11th

On September 11th, 2023, VFW Post 12196 will sponsor the National Day of Remembrance at Leland’s Founder’s Park. Brunswick County Commissioner Frank Williams, Leland Mayor Brenda Bozeman, Police Chief Jeremy Humphries, and Fire Chief Ronnie Hayes will be among the invited guests and dignitaries. Brunswick BIG BAND will perform a 30-minute program of patriotic music.  The public is invited to attend and children are most welcome.  

Vietnam Veterans Day – March 29th

The Department of Veterans Affairs estimates that today there are more than 6 million U.S. Vietnam veterans living in America and abroad, along with 9 million families of those who served during this timeframe.  The American Legion  makes  no distinction between veterans who served in-country, in-theater, or who were stationed elsewhere during the Vietnam War period.  All were called to serve and none could self-determine where they would serve.
