Memorial Day Ceremony May 29, 2023

VFW Post 12196, in conjunction with the Town of Belville, will host a Memorial Day Ceremony beginning at 9 am at the Brunswick Riverwalk at Belville. As part of our ceremony will place roses at the Veterans Memorial for deceased veterans. The public is invited to bring a rose and recognize their deceased veteran family members. Vietnam Veterans Commemoration

We would like to thank the 120+ people who attended our celebration of our Vietnam Veterans and the 50th anniversary of the end of that war. Thanks to our sponsors Humana, Lower Cape Fear Life Services, and JBG Services-Painting Division for all their support. The Stamp Act Daughters of the American Revolution’s help was invaluable as was the Color Guard from the Cape Fear Composite Squadron 023.

Vietnam War Era Veterans Commemoration

  The Leland VFW Post 12196 will host National Vietnam War Veterans Day on Mar. 29, 2023, at 5 PM, at the LELAND CULTURAL ARTS CENTER, 1212 MAGNOLIA VILLAGE WAY, LELAND, NC 28451. We will hold our annual February Can Drive on Feb. 18 at Founders Park in Leland. Beginning Feb. 6, you can drop off your donations at Fuzzy Peach in Leland or at the Office of Deb Pickett-Financial Advisor for Edward Jones. Winter-Spring Agenda for Post 12196

The Post meets the second Tuesday of each month at Blossoms Restaurant. We have dinner at 5:30, and the meeting starts at 7 pm. Our Tuesday morning “Veterans Coffee” is going well. We are changing locations to the new Exxon on Lanvale Road, across from the Kicking Mule. (intersection of HWY 74 and Lanvale Road) We meet at 9 am. Post 12196 will host annual Can Drive Feb. 11, 2023

Leland VFW Post 12196 will host a Can Drive on February 11, 2021, at Leland’s Founders Park (113 Town Hall Drive).  Post Members will be on hand from 10 am until 3 pm to accept ‘drive-by’ donations of canned goods and other nonperishable food items.  Members will also distribute Buddy Poppies to donors and the public. Leland Middle School Veterans Day Program

We thank Principal Shawn Black for inviting Post 12196 to be their Guest of Honor for this special occasion. It was our privilege to use the occasion to donate a flag to the school that had been flown over the Battleship North Carolina.
